We used to answer basic questions about sexuality and sexual health over e-mail, but the volume of questions received every day quickly exceeded anything we could hope to keep up with. Rather than answering some questions but not others, we chose instead to defer all such questions to the following free and confidential information hotlines, all of which have a good reputation and are professionally staffed:

People everywhere may call this number to ask questions on any aspect of sexuality. This service is free, confidential, and highly recommended. See their web site for details on what hours and days it is staffed.

National STD Hotline: 1-800-227-8922
Anyone may call this phone number anonymously to receive high-quality advice on STD's and STD testing/treatment in their area. If your question is specifically about HIV/AIDS, you should call instead the National AIDS Hotline at 1-800-342-2437.

Emergency Contraception Hotline: 1-888-668-2528
By calling this number you can immediately find the clinics and pharmacies nearest you which provide emergency contraception. Emergency contraception (typically, consisting of a special dose of birth control pills) can significantly reduce the chance of conception following contraceptive failure if done within a brief window of time after the contraceptive failure.

Planned Parenthood: 1-800-230-7526
Call this number if you need to find a clinic in your area. Planned Parenthood clinics can provide a variety of services, including counseling, contraception, STD referral, and sterilization.
